Na Europa, os principais rebanhos s\u00e3o encontrados na It\u00e1lia, Rom\u00eania e Bulg\u00e1ria, e nas Am\u00e9ricas, o principal rebanho encontra-se no Brasil, com uma popula\u00e7\u00e3o de mais de 2 milh\u00f5es de animais. Estima ainda a FAO uma taxa anual de crescimento (1980) de 5,4%.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">O principal produto do b\u00fafalo \u00e9 o leite, que em 1998 representava cerca de 10,5% de todos os tipos de leite explorados no mundo, sendo que na \u00cdndia, representa mais de 51% do leite produzido naquele pa\u00eds. \u00c9 ainda explorado para a produ\u00e7\u00e3o de carne (principal produto no Brasil), de couro, bem como para o trabalho (principalmente na \u00c1sia) e ainda na produ\u00e7\u00e3o de esterco.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" align=\"right\">No Brasil, \u00e9 encontrad<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ingai.agr.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/013.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-7 alignright\" alt=\"013\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ingai.agr.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/013-300x225.jpg\" width=\"227\" height=\"169\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.ingai.agr.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/013-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.ingai.agr.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/013.jpg 320w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 227px) 100vw, 227px\" \/><\/a>o em praticamente todos os Estados, sendo criado tradicionalmente para o abate. O interesse na explora\u00e7\u00e3o de seu potencial leiteiro vem rapidamente se difundindo em diversas regi\u00f5es do pa\u00eds, particularmente nas regi\u00f5es Sul e Sudeste, e mais recentemente no Nordeste, onde j\u00e1 se observam in\u00fameros rebanhos sob explora\u00e7\u00e3o leiteira, confirmando a tend\u00eancia atual de consider\u00e1-lo uma esp\u00e9cie de dupla aptid\u00e3o.
